Solace Academy

Proven, Scientific and Certified Addiction Recovery Coaching

ABOUT SOLACE ACADEMY

Solace Academy is the latest in a line of new ventures by Solace Family with Sanctuary Retreat preceding it. The main purpose of the Academy is to institutionalise knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing and dissemination happening already at Solace and Sanctuary.

Treatment for Addiction and its allied support areas are research-intensive and knowledge centric and this means, an institutional mechanism is required not only to fulfil the Solace’s idea of giving back to the community in terms of knowledge dissemination but also to reinforce the ideas and practices that accompany the unique treatment methodology we follow at Solace.

THE COURSE

Currently Solace Academy conducts a course titled Recovery Support Coach Program also known as the RSC Program. Recovery coaching is about promoting recovery by eliminating boundaries and obstacles while serving as a mentor and a role model for those who are seeking recovery from addictions.

HOW IT WORKS

This Recovery Coach program is an intensive, three-month course designed to provide people who have completed residential treatment or are in recovery from addictions an opportunity to not only acquire a skill but also continue to practice recovery by offering their services and sharing experiences to other suffering addicts.

This programme is developed as an extension from the treatment approach, integrating community-based recovery focusing on services and support systems in order to maintain recovery as a form of continuum care. The main focus of this programme is to help people who may be in recovery themselves and met the entry requirements by passing an interview by the board, acquire skills to help themselves as well as others stay in recovery from addictions.

SKILL ACQUISITION

Recovery coaches will be equipped with skills to coach and mentor individuals address various areas in their lives impacted by the addictions which may have not been tackled during their treatment process. Some such common areas are: managing finances, employment, housing etc.

Recovery coaches further continue the spiritual aspects of treatment by focusing on skills training, consultations, coaching and being present for the individual requiring help.

WHY BE AN RSC

Very often, the time spent in a residential treatment setting is insufficient to address all the complex issues that arise or lead to addictions. It is crucial to have the ability to continue recovery while back in the community with a proper support system and network in place. This recovery coach programme helps provide skills to those who are keen to help others and themselves maintain a healthy recovery while in the community. The programme can be employed to effectively link up and tap into community resources in order to maintain recovery from addictions.
